Local Zeeland Author publishes Historical Fiction Novel

Local Zeeland author, Catie Cordero, is releasing her newest Historical Fiction novel, “Where Legends Die” on September 5th. This will be Cordero’s sixth published book through the imprint Flywheel Books. In this story, Cordero takes readers on a journey back to 1919, where old legends come to life and a haunting mystery might lead to death.

“I love history, especially the time period from WWI into the 1920’s. And I’ve always wanted to write a ghost story. Those two interests intersected in my new novel," said Catie Cordero

About "Where Legends Die"

The people of Saugerties won't go near the old Whitaker estate. They know the legend…

In 1901, Irena Krall, servant to bluestone millionaire Charles Whitaker, mysteriously drowned in the creek behind the mansion. Following her demise, most of the Whitaker family met their untimely deaths. Each perplexing fatality pointed back to the ghost of Irena.

Now, eighteen years later, June Flynn, a desperate war widow rolls into town and purchases the ramshackle—and probably haunted—Krall cabin on the Whitaker grounds.

Whe

n men of the Whitaker lineage start vanishing, the townspeople accuse June of awakening Irena's ghost. But June doesn't believe in ghost stories, and she won't be bullied. She determines to uncover the truth...or die trying.

Cordero blends her witty humor, clever storytelling, heartwarming characters, and power of friendship (the Girl Scouts play a vital role) into an excellent read for fans of both historical fiction and mystery.
